Guatemala 2014 Day 1

Guatemala was my very first mission trip and in 7 days I fell in love with it! We had to be at DFW airport at 6:00 am because our flight left at 6:40 am. We flew from DFW to Houston and from Houston to Guatemala city.

I remember just looking out the window and thinking how amazing his creation is. Also that this was going to be a great mission trip starting many future trips!
We arrived in Guatemala city and got our luggage and headed out side where they were going to pic us up. There were so many people trying to sell you stuff and looking at you because you are American. The Chicken Bus (that's what they call them there) picked us up and we went to a chicken place called Pollo Campero and for an appetizer they brought out donuts and rolls. I didn't really like the chicken but I kept telling myself this isn't America...this isn't America...I didn't come here for food. After Lunch we went to an Acts 49 church called Casa De Libertad and met with the pastor and other staff. Next we went to the fire station and they gave us a tour. They let us go down the pole but if you know me I HATE HEIGHTS!! So of course I didn't do it(just between you and be I kinda wish I did it) The last major thing we did on day 1 was we went to an orphanage called FundaniƱos. There  are 25 girls and 25 boys ages 1-18, in Guatemala when you turn 18 they have to let them go and they have to live on there own.

While we were there we got to play with the kids and talk to them about Christ. After dinner we shared the kingdom keys with the kids(the keys to the kingdom are like little flashcard that tell the story of creation all the way to Jesus saving us.) We got to the mission house at night and got ready for bed.
